Purple Loosestrife Honey
Purple Loosestrife produces a honey crop once maybe every 5-8 years here at Ames Farm. The nectar and honey has a noticeable neon, orange to yellow color. The flavor profile has an initial butterscotch flavor and aroma that unfold into a floral component and then leaves a slightly bitter finish reminiscent of Italian Chestnut honey.
This is one honey that changes in flavor in storage and the bitterness is most notable when its fresh in the fall. This honey is a cheese mongers dream accompaniment, and pairs well with strong flavored cheeses.
Ames Farm has produced a honey beyond compare. Light, bright, and full of flavor. Notes of citrus. This is my all time favorite honey. Delicious!
It's perfect for adding some sweetness to my morning greek yogurt. Have tried others but I keep coming back to Purple Loosestrife. Definitely my favorite.
Has quite a very unique and pleasant taste - being it is so dear, we open the jar every now and then to give ourselves a treat! Thank you for offering such a lovely honey.
So glad to have found Ames honey- we can't get enough!
