Buckthorn Honey

Our honeybees make a unique single source honey from the blossoms of this tree which is a cousin of the Hawthorn.

As we have lost more of the desirable honey producing plants and clover in central Minnesota. The difficult to eradicate buckthorn persists and provides nectar for our bees.

The flavor profile is nutty with a deep oak-like finish and pairs well with a number of cheeses.

Buckthorn: Maybe NOT 100% EVIL!

I tried this buckthorn honey on a whim. Wow! It is really good. Nothing scary here; just a rich flavor.

Note: I kill buckthorn wherever and whenever I see it. It is so invasive. It is horrible. I hope Ames Farm will help keep their buckthorn source confined.

Great flavor

I have ordered this honey a few times and love the full flavor and versatility.

I use a variety of honeys for adding to tea and using in plain Greek yogurt. This honeys works well with many of the teas I drink and as an addition to multigrain toast. It adds a nice touch no matter how it is used.
