Honey's status as a superfood is unmatched in antiviral, antibacterial, and immunity-boosting properties; it’s said to contain over 200 components like enzymes, amino acids, and minerals. That's great for us who love to eat the good stuff by the spoonful, but what happens when we apply raw, late-season honey to our skin, too? Our buckwheat honey (the latest bloom of the season) is packed with even more healthful bits that soften and purify skin. Below, you'll find a simple mixture that can be used as a gentle facial scrub a few times a week.
In a small dish, mix the following:
2 T raw buckwheat honey
1 t fresh lemon juice
2 T brown sugar
Massage gently onto moistened face and neck, avoiding delicate eye area. Feel free to leave on skin for 5-10 minutes as a mask. Then rinse thoroughly with warm water and moisturize skin with favorite facial lotion.
